Stillness

I told someone seven years ago that if they met me again in 10 years, I would be an exemplary  model of patience. I have three years left and I am nowhere near that goal.  In fact, against all odds, I believe I have gotten worse! How could I have learned so little about stillness and patience in seven years? I think the answer lies in my deep sea of faithlessness. After all, how can patience exist without faith? My sea of faithlessness is a troubled water to be sure. Instead of the stillness that brings about ears that hear the voice of God and eyes that see his movement... I am "still seeking, still making little forward progress...because (I) haven't yet come to the end of (myself). (I'm) still trying to give orders, and interfering with God's work within (me). ” -A.W. Tozer
